Stability and two new features
December 22nd, 2007 | by FilesTube.team |FilesTube gets attention of more users every day and some of you may have noticed problems with accessing our services lately. Because of that we were forced to expand the hardware infrastructure behind FilesTube. This step, planned for some time, was prepared to ensure as little disruption to our services as possible. Now we are ready to handle the increasing amount of traffic we get every day and ensure the availability of FilesTube to our users.
And of course, we wouldn’t be ourselves if we didn’t develop some new exciting FilesTube features. Advanced search is something many of you may have waited for. Now searching for files from a given file-sharing site or with a given extension and size won’t be a problem anymore. The second feature is for those of you who would like to bring FilesTube Search to your websites. FilesTube XML API is a simple solution embracing the power of FilesTube search engine. Some examples will help you to easily get started with our API. Note that this functionality is in the phase of testing and could be far from perfect. Please use our contact form to report any problems you may encounter.

Congratulations on an extensive database. However, I have an idea.
If I were to submit a rapidshare link to a file named dfud01.rar and it was added to the FT database, it would not turn in any user search because nothing meaningful is associated with it (its filename is an acronym, or just random characters).
My suggestion is including a separate field on the “Submit” page for the submitter to type a brief description of what’s inside the rar archive (for example, for dfud01.rar I can also write “freeware pdf converter software” or similar.)
If the submitted link is added to the FT database, this extra description could be added to the file as tags. This will increase the number of results for each search, as even nonsense filenames like “fjsyzjf_1.rar” will be included! I hope this makes sense.

Hi
Thanks for the API, but… it’s somewhat useless. Yeah, it works, but returning links back to your page is something that ruins whole api idea…
